Concordia Shuts Out ACU In GSAC Finale

Irvine, Calif. – Arizona Christian University (4-11-1, 1-9-0 GSAC) lost its final Golden State Athletics Conference match of the season at Concordia University (9-8-0, 4-6-0 GSAC), 3-0, in Saturday, October 27 women's soccer action on Eagles Field on the Concordia campus in Irvine, California. Concordia finishes the GSAC season in fifth place and ACU rests in eighth place. 

Coached by Carl Cecil, ACU plays its final regular-season match of the 2012 season at Soka University (2-7-2) in non-conference action in Aliso Viejo, Calif., Sunday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. 

Concordia led ACU 27-0 in shots, 11-0 in shots directly on goal and 7-0 in corner kicks, and totaled 16 shots in the first half. Sophomore forward Megan Daniels accounted for the Eagles' first and third goals, scoring her 12th goal of the season just 2:58 into the first half and her 13th at 64:48 of the second half, and freshman forward Elizabeth Abt scored her fourth goal of the season at 25:57 of the first half, and earned one of the assists on Daniels' second-half goal. Daniels and junior forward Val Barrios both shot four times, and Barrios received the second assist on Daniels' second goal of the match. 

ACU's freshman goalkeeper Sydney Roller-Sotak (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) totaled eight saves in the match, four in each half, and Concordia goalkeeper Bekah Garvin was credited the shutout victory.
