Box Score PHOENIX, AZ – The Arizona Christian Firestorm volleyball team defeated Hope International University on Tuesday evening by a final of 3-0 inside of the Fultz Memorial Gymnasium.
With the victory, the Firestorm improve to 7-5 overall and 2-3 in GSAC play. With the loss, Hope International fell to 4-9 overall and remained winless at 0-4 in GSAC play.
All of the sets on Tuesday evening were close between the Firestorm and the Royals.
In the first set, ACU jumped out to an early 8-1 lead, thanks in large part to the production from Mackenzie Worden. Hope International played their way back into the set late, drawing as close as 17-15. In the end, ACU won the first set 25-21.
Hope International would respond after a close loss in the first set, as they jumped out to an early 4-2 lead in the second set. However, ACU would battle back and tie the set up at nine. The Firestorm then rattled off five straight points to take a 14-9 lead; four of which came off of Jenny Thompson serves. In the end, ACU won the second set 25-19.
The third and final set of the evening was the closest, as it required extra time. Hope International and ACU went back-and-forth the entire time, with the Firestorm coming out victorious 30-28; to complete the sweep of Hope International three sets to none.
The Arizona Christian Firestorm volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, when they host Biola University at 3pm over in the Fultz Memorial Gymnasium.
