Box Score LA MIRADA, CA --- The Arizona Christian University Firestorm baseball team fell to the Biola Eagles 11-3 on Friday afternoon in La Mirada, California.
With the loss, the Firestorm fall to 3-10 on the season and 3-10 in GSAC play. With the victory, the Biola Eagles improve to 5-11 overall and 3-10 in GSAC play.
Biola scored early and often on Friday afternoon, as they put away the Firestorm in game one of this three game set. The Eagles got on Firestorm starter Tommy Lay (1-2) early; with two runs in the first inning. The Eagles would then strike for another two runs in the third inning and a single run in both the fifth and sixth innings, before Lay was chased from the game.
Final line for Firestorm starter Tommy Lay was six innings that saw him allow seven runs; all earned on 11 hits with four strikeouts in the losing effort.
Biola would then attack the Firestorm bullpen for five runs in the seventh inning on their way to the 11-3 victory.
ACU scored their first run of the ballgame in the second inning on a Ryan Lischer homer to left field. Lischer was the lone Firestorm player to tally multiple hits in the game; as he finished 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Matthew Mara scored the second run of the game for the Firestorm in the fourth inning on a balk. The third and final run for ACU, was thanks to a Chris Rose homerun to left field; to make it a 5-3 ballgame.
The Firestorm conclude their three-game series with the Biola Eagles on Saturday, with a doubleheader. The games are scheduled for at 12 noon and 3pm Arizona time.
