COSTA MESA, CA --- The Arizona Christian University Firestorm baseball team was swept in Saturday's doubleheader against the Vanguard Lions by a finals of 7-6 in game one and 2-0 in game two at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California.

The Firestorm fall to 3-6 on the season and 3-6 in GSAC play. With the victories, the Vanguard Lions move to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in GSAC play.

In game one, both teams struck for a run in the first inning. Vanguard then went one to score a run in the second and the third inning to take a 3-1 lead, before ACU scored two runs in the fourth inning to even the score at three heading to the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Lions struck for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on a three-run homer to take a 6-3 lead. ACU answered with a Sac-Fly RBI and a two-run double by AJ Arroyo to even the game once again; this time at six. Vanguard would score the winning run on an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the 7-6 victory.

Wade Mason took the loss for the Firestorm in game one, pitching two-thirds of an inning, while allowing the run to score that Cole Chaisson put on base. Three batters for ACU finished the game with two hits apiece.

Game two featured a pictures duel, after the high scoring affair in game one. Game two was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, when Brandon Sandoval doubled in Justin Davis to score the first run of the game for the Lions. The very next inning say Jose Rojas homer to right field to give Vanguard the 2-0 lead; which would turn out to be the final score.

ACU managed just three hits in the game; two of which came from leadoff batter Christopher Burks. Firestorm starter Brett Swartz took the loss, allowing a pair of runs on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

The Firestorm will now return home on this Friday and Saturday February 13^th and 14^th for a three-game set against The Master's College Mustangs. Game one is set for Friday at 2pm at the Firestorm Baseball Field.
