Box Score 2 SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- The Arizona Christian University Firestorm baseball team fell to the 21st ranked Westmont Warriors by finals of 3-1 and 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at Russ Carr Field in Santa Barbara, California.
With the losses, the Firestorm fall to 8-18 on the season and drop to 8-16 in GSAC play. With the victories, the 21st ranked Westmont College Warriors improve to 22-7 overall and 16-6 in GSAC play.
Game one was a low scoring affair that saw the two teams combine for four runs on 12 hits. The Warriors got on the board first, by scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
The teams then went scoreless until the top of the seventh inning, when Kyle Robbins singled in Jake Wakamatsu to tie the game at one a piece.
Westmont answered in the bottom of the eighth inning, thanks to a single by Will Barring and an error by Jake Wakamatsu to give the Warriors a 3-1 lead; which they would hold onto and win by.
Wade Mason (1-2) took the loss in relief, allowing two runs; one earned on a hit and two walks.
Game two was all Westmont; as they struck for four runs in the bottom of the first inning; on an error and a three-run homerun. The Warriors then scored another run on a sac-fly in the bottom of the second inning, to take a 5-0 lead.
Arizona Christian managed just two hits in the loss, while committing three errors. Starter Joshua Garcia (1-2) took the loss; he allowed five runs; four earned on four hits with a walk in just an inning and a third of work.
The Firestorm return home on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader with Bristol University. Game times are set for 11am and 2pm at the Firestorm Baseball Field this Tuesday.
