Firestorm Roll Past Flames

Box Score

Phoenix, AZ- After exchanging a few baskets early on, Arizona Christian rolled right past Bethesda 90-52 on Saturday afternoon.  Sophomore Courtney Christmas scored a game high 23 points while Freshman Toni Davis added 19 points.  Junior Suzie Castro-Larsen pulled down 15 rebounds including nine offensive boards.

Sophomore Makayla Enders scored the first four points of the afternoon- a jumper and then a steal and fast break layup.  The Flames (1-11) scored the next five points to move in front.

Christmas scored the next three points before BUC tied the score at 7-7.

But a 12-0 run by the Firestorm (4-4) pushed them ahead for good.  Christmas and Sophomore Jada Willingham both scored four points during the run.

The lead only dipped into single digits a couple times before the break.  The half time lead was 40-27 thanks to ACU shooting 48.4% from the field. Christmas was the only player in double digits with 13 points.

In the second half, the Firestorm held the Flames to just 25 points.  For perspective, ACU scored 26 points in the fourth quarter alone.

Joining Christmas and Davis in double digits by game's end was Enders with 16 points and Willingham with 12 points.  Freshman Kelsey Miranda contributed eight points including two three pointers.

The next countable contest for the Firestorm will come on Saturday against crosstown rival Benedictine-Mesa in Fultz Memorial Gym at 4:00 pm.
