Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Mesa, AZ- Arizona Christian swept Benedictine on Saturday 8-3 and 3-1 in nine innings.  Junior Sianna Gomez went 5-9 on the day with a double.  Junior Kylie Christman was 3-6 with two walks and three runs scored.

In the opener, the Firestorm (4-0) pushed across four runs in their first at bats of the day.  Senior Meaghen Nelson was hit by a pitch followed by a single from Senior Alyssa Vanderdrink.  Both came in to score on a double down the left field line off the bat of Senior Abby Beasley.  Christman then walked.  Beasley and Christman both scored on a combination of a few wild pitches, passed ball, error, and sacrifice fly to give ACU a 4-0 edge before the Redhawks (0-6) had even stepped to the plate.

ACU added three more in the third on a Beasley single, Christman double, triple by Junior Taylor Fabing, and another sac fly by Sophomore Ashlynn Preciado.

A Gomez double and throwing error by Benedictine cashed in ACU's eighth run of the game in the fourth.

Senior Jackie Aguilar improved to 2-0 on the year with the win.

Game two saw ACU have chance after chance to blow the game wide open but they just could not find the timely hit.  Instead they settled for a nail biting win.

The Redhawks used a triple and sacrifice fly to put the first run on the board of game two.

Junior Destinee Spencer helped her own cause with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1 in the second.

Despite having at least one base runner in every inning, ACU could not score again until the game headed to extra innings.  Game two saw the Firestorm leave 12 on base.

In the ninth, Senior Ilene Ruiz started as the tie break runner at second and moved up to third on sac bunt.  Gomez reached on a fielder's choice before Nelson doubled home the game winning runs.

Spencer- making her first start of the year- only allowed two base runners after the first inning before dealing with the extra inning runners at second.  Beasley helped Spencer collect her first win of the season by throwing out the would be game winning run at the plate in the bottom of the eighth.

The Firestorm return to the dirt on Saturday when they host Carroll (MT) at Shadow Mountain High School.  First pitch will come about a mile from ACU's campus at 12:00 pm (AT).
