Box Score Santa Clarita, CA- With single runs scattered throughout the afternoon, Arizona Christian and The Master's did not decided their game until the 11th inning- with the Mustangs winning 3-2. Seniors Tate Erickson and Tatum Hendrix both collected two hits with one of those hits being a double.
To begin the game, ACU went down 1-2-3 before TMC used a triple and single to open the scoring in the bottom of the first.
The Firestorm (9-17, 6-13 GSAC) cashed in their first run in the third as a result of two errors by the Mustangs (19-11, 9-7 GSAC).
In the sixth inning, The Master's grabbed a 2-1 lead thanks to a double and single.
Moving ahead to the eighth, Arizona Christian tied the game at two. Senior AJ Arroyo walked. Two batters later, Senior Hector Ortiz singled. Erickson then shot an opposite field double into left field to score Arroyo. Arroyo scored the run in the third as well.
ACU managed just one base runner in the final three innings.
On the mound, Senior Dean Jackson started and threw the first six innings giving up four hits and two runs while striking out 11 batters. Junior Van Woudenberg tossed two scoreless innings allowing a double. After the double, Van Woudenberg teamed with Sophomore Wade Mason to retire 10 straight batters.
But Mason ran into the trouble in the eleventh by allowing the first two batters to reach with singles. A popup to third created one out but TMC's David Schaeffer singled back up the middle to drive home the game winner.
The same two teams will take the field again at The Master's on Thursday beginning at 11:00 am.
