Box Score

Phoenix, AZ- Facing the number 15 team in the land on Friday, Arizona Christian came out playing with the momentum on their side late into the first set.  But Biola turned the tide and won not only the first set but then kept the momentum on their way to a 3-0 win (25-20, 25-16, 25-19) over ACU.

Junior Deborah White opened the match with a kill.  The Firestorm (1-3, 0-1 GSAC) turn their lead into as large as a five point edge.  A kill from Senior Brenna Bailey gave ACU a 19-17 cushion and thoughts of closing out the set with a win.  But the Eagles (10-5, 2-0 GSAC) forced four straight ACU errors in a span of closing out the set on an 8-1 run.

Junior Hailey Settle had a strong opening set as she was 3-5 hitting without an error (.600).

An attack error by Arizona Christian to open the second set kept "the ole mo(mentum)" in Biola's favor.  They held the lead until back-to-back blocks by the Firestorm forced a 7-7 tie - first by Sophomore Toria Siemens and Senior Samantha McCants and then by Junior Kinsey Pease and White.  However, BU produced the next 10 points and never allowed ACU to forge even a tie the remainder of the match.

At the final whistle, Bailey topped the Firestorm with eight kills.  Siemens delivered five kills on nine attacks without an error (.556).

Senior Haley Worden kept her consecutive double digit dig effort intact to begin the season as she ended up with 11 digs.
