Box Score 2 Santa Clarita, CA- On Friday, Arizona Christian rallied in game two to earn a split on the road at The Master's. ACU dropped game one 8-6 before winning game two 5-3. The teams played their double header on Friday to help avoid rain scheduled for Saturday.
Game one proved to be a close match and battle for the Firestorm. ACU plated runs three runs in the third and three runs in the fifth inning. ACU dropped the game in extra innings allowing a walk-off two run home run in the tenth.
Senior Marco Castilla led the Firestorm at the plate going 2-for-4. Senior Matt Mara ended game one going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored.
Junior Robert Milacki started game one tossing six innings allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits. Juniors Baylor Giannini and River Carbone saw action out of the bullpen. Carbone (0-1) suffered the loss.
In game two, ACU allowed one run in the second inning before scoring three of their own in the top of the third inning. The Firestorm (10-15, 5-11 GSAC) would add one in the fourth and one in the fifth which proved to be enough to secure the 5-3 victory over the Mustangs (15-10, 9-7 GSAC).
Sophomore Cohen Heckethorn led Arizona Christian at the plate going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Senior Adam Wolfe went 1-for-3 with two runs scored. Mara recorded a double and a walk in the contest going 1-for-3.
Sophomore Trevor McGee (1-2) started for the Firestorm throwing 4.2 innings while allowing three runs on three hits and striking out six in the win. Junior Steven Butts tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
The Firestorm and Mustangs continued the three-game series on Saturday with a single game.
