ACU Baseball Drop Series To Westmont

Santa Barbara, CA- ACU baseball had their four-game win streak snapped on Thursday at Westmont.  The Firestorm lost game one, 8-0, before dropping the night cap, 7-2.

In game one, ACU was held scoreless and only collected five hits in the contest.  Seven of the eight runs were earned for the Warriors.

Senior Michael Dunnebecke collected a multi-hit performance going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and a triple.  ACU left seven runners on base.

Sophomore Trevor McGee started on the mound throwing 5.1 innings allowing six runs on eight hits. Junior Steven Butts, Senior Austin Bright and Junior Yuan (Leo) Liu all saw action out of the bullpen.

Game two saw the Firestorm (14-21, 9-16 GSAC) collect three hits to the Warriors (21-12, 15-10 GSAC) four hits in the game.  ACU scored their runs in the third inning and in the sixth inning, while giving up three in the first, one in the third, and three in the fourth.

Senior Dom Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a RBI and hit by pitch.  Sophomore Cohen Heckethorn went 1-for-3 with one RBI.  Freshman Nash Gowin went 1-for-2 with a double.

Five different Firestorm saw action on the mound.  Sophomore Cam Sharp started on the mound going 0.1 innings allowing three runs on no hits.  Senior Tony Pins, Bright, Junior Stephen Streltzoff, and Junior River Carbone all pitched in relief.

ACU will have a week off from games before returning to the field next Thursday, April 5, at Ottawa (AZ). First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm at Surprise Stadium.
