Box Score Surprise, AZ- The bats of ACU Baseball came alive late in the contest to rally for a non-conference 6-2 victory over Ottawa (AZ) on Wednesday evening.
After allowing the game's first two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning, Arizona Christian plated two runs in the eighth and four runs in the ninth for the 6-2 win.
Senior Jonathan Nunnally, Jr. went 1-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and one walk. Senior Max Sias pinch hit in the ninth inning singling and driving in two while scoring one run. Senior Adam Wolfe ended the contest 1-for-3 with an RBI. Senior Marco Castilla doubled in the game.
The Firestorm (17-27) out hit the Spirit (20-20) in the game 8-6.
Sophomore Cam Sharp started on the mound tossing six innings allowing two runs on four hits. Freshman Chandler McKinney, Junior Stephen Streltzoff, Senior Tony Pins, Senior Austin Bright, Junior Baylor Giannini all saw action on the bump out of the bullpen. Bright recorded the win moving to 1-1 on the season.
Arizona Christian returns to action this weekend hosting San Diego Christian. Due to a rain out earlier in the season, the Firestorm and Hawks will play doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 11:00 am.
