ACU Splits Double Header With OUAZ

Surprise, AZ - After a tough first game loss, ACU was able to bounce back to win the second game of the double header against OUAZ with the help of some tough pitching by the Firestorm.

  • Justen Burkey - 1-3, run, RBI, walk
  • Seong-Bin Hur - 1-3, 2 RBI
  • Robert Bostedt - 2 runs, 2 stolen bases, walk
  • Eric Schwalbe - 1-4, run, stolen base
 

Inside Game One

  • In the first inning, Burkey got hit by a pitch and Bostedt drove him in for a run
  • Schwalbe singled, stole a base, and Hur hit a sacrifice fly to bring him in the the second inning
  • In the fourth, Burkey walked and scored by a single from Hur
  • The final ACU run was scored in the sixth by Bostedt after he walked, stole a base, and scored on an OUAZ throwing error

  • Brett Aker - 5.1 innings, 2 runs, 6 K's, earned win
  • Matt Asta - 2-2, RBI, stolen base, walk
  • Justen Burkey - 2-3, home run, walk

Inside Game Two

  • In the first inning, Maggi singled and was brought home by a double from Bostedt
  • In the fourth, Bostedt got on by an OUAZ fielding error and was brought in by a sacrifice bunt from Asta
  • Burkey homered to right field in the sixth inning
  • ACU outhit OUAZ 11-5
 

Thoughts from Coach McDonald

"We did a really good job rebounding from game one and playing a clean complete second half of a doubleheader in game two.  Aker and McGee gave us two great starting outings and we will continue to work on improving the little things that will help us going into the GSAC next week."

On Friday, the Firestorm start conference play with two double headers at The Master's.  First pitch is at 11:00 am (Pacific)/12:00 pm (AZ).
