ACU Takes Game One, Game Two Rained Out

Phoenix, AZ- On Tuesday, Arizona Christian took game one over Benedictine-Mesa 8-0.  But game two was rained after the game went to the top of the third.  ACU benefited from ten walks given out by the Redhawks in game one.

Inside Game One

  • No one in either lineup had more than one hit (both teams only had five hits)
  • BenU issued 10 walks, committed 3 errors, and hit a batter to help the Firestorm cause
  • ACU tallied two runs in the second and three in both the fourth and fifth
  • San Pedro drove in a run in each of the scoring innings (two walks and a single)
  • Paige Church delivered the only extra base hit in the game- an RBI double in the fifth
  • P. Carli poked a single through the left side to cash in the walk-off win in the fifth
  • Grijalva stranded three runners at third on her way to her 14th win on the year
 

Thoughts from Coach Welsh

"Nice to get the first win today.  Bummer that the rain didn't allow us to finish game two.  It is great that we get to have a little bit of a break and rest and celebrate Easter with our families and then we will look forward to coming back next week and finishing up conference play."

 

Up Next

With Wednesday's games cancelled at Embry-Riddle, the final tune-up before the GSAC tournament for the Firestorm will come at OUAZ a week from Wednesday.  The 5:00 pm doubleheader will be played at Willow Canyon High School.
