Miranda Homers Twice in 20-6 Win over OPSU

Box Score

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Led by third-year Head Coach Joe McDonald, the Arizona Christian University baseball team (2-1) totaled 26 hits in a 20-6 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State University (0-3) at Apollo High School on Friday afternoon.

Game Notes:

Originally scheduled for 6 p.m. Arizona Time, the game was moved closer to noon in an attempt to have it played before forecasted rain moved in.  That turned out to be a successful change as rain began to fall in the latter part of the game.

Today's game marked the first time that ACU and OPSU have met in program history, with ACU now leading the all-time series, 1-0.

The Game:

The contest was all-ACU as the Firestorm offense totaled 26 hits and plated 20 runs, scoring at least one run in all innings with the exception of the fifth.  Seven different ACU players finished with two or more hits.

The offensive charge was led by shortstop Ramon Miranda who finished 4-for-6 with a pair of solo home runs, a double, four runs scored, and two RBI.

ACU starting pitcher Andrew Hirsch (1-0) went five full innings and allowed four runs on eight hits while walking one and punching out four in the win.
