Glendale, AZ - The Arizona Christian University women's basketball team (5-4, 1-3 GSAC) fought hard but dropped a close upset bid 76-68 to #11 The Master's University (9-0, 3-0 GSAC) on Saturday afternoon at the ACU Events Center.

Game Details:

Despite The Master's leading the GSAC in steals the Firestorm did a great job in limiting turnovers and forcing them as they gave The Master's all they could handle. The Master's jumped out to a 13-6 lead early in the first but the Firestorm came roaring back to take a 20-17 lead at the end of the first quarter as they looked to upset the 11th ranked Mustangs. The Mustangs fought back in the second as they went on a 9-4 run to take the lead and closed the quarter outscoring the Firestorm 14-8 to take a 31-28 halftime advantage. It looked like the Mustangs were going to run away with it as they extended their lead to 51-39 but the Firestorm never gave up as they closed the quarter on an 8-3 run to get back within 54-47 at the end of the third. Alyssa Alvarez stepped up big for the Firestorm scoring 11 of her 17 points in the fourth as the Firestorm closed within two points but it wasn't enough as the Mustangs pulled away to win 76-68.
