- ACU answered and forced ties at 10-10 and 11-11 before Smith moved the Firestorm ahead with an ace
- The Spirit took the lead right back and kept it
- After leading the entire second set, the Firestorm watched their 23-18 advantage slip away and they dropped the set
- Thirty-eight points into the third set, the teams were tied 19-19
- But two Gebhart kills sandwiched around a kill from Frame and followed by an ace from Tori Nelson pushed ACU in front for good
- Set four was knotted at 22 before OUAZ secured the match with the final three points

"Tonight was hard for everyone as hope was deferred and our expectations disrupted. OUAZ did a good job neutralizing key attackers and we did not make the proper adjustments mentally. Offensively, we were not producing and that must change if we expect to make our mark this season. On the other hand our defense was phenomenal, but we need a complete team effort to start to realize our potential."
