Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The ACU baseball team (18-10) rolled to a win in game one, 13-7 and completed a sweep with a narrow win in game two, 8-7 over the Bethesda University of California (2-17) in a Wednesday-night doubleheader at Apollo High School.

Series/Game Notes:

ACU leads all-time series, 16-5, and the Firestorm currently hold an eight-game winning streak over the Flames dating back to Jan. 30, 2019.

Both games were seven innings as agreed to by both coaches ahead of time.

Game One:

Starting pitcher Trevor McGee moved to 4-2 on the year with the win and threw four innings of shutout baseball with four punchouts.

Justin Ramirez went 4-for-4, scored four times, stole three bases, knocked in one, and walked once.  Brent Smith added three hits in four tries and scored three runs, Ramon Miranda went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and runs scored, Justen Burkey finished with one hit and four RBI, and Damien McElroy tripled and knocked in two.

Game Two:

ACU starting pitcher Brett Aker moved to 5-0 with the win and struck out seven in five innings of work.

McElroy homered and finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, Ramirez went 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored to complete a perfect 7-for-7 day at the plate including game one, and Rhett Holmes went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Thoughts from Coach:

"Tonight we had really good starting pitching and were able to score runs early, and that's what ended up being the difference in both games.  We found a way to draw a line and complete the sweep, and sometimes you just have to find a way to win.  We got that done tonight."

Up Next:
