Baseball Moves to 23-11; Wins Series with Bethesda

Glendale, Ariz. - Recapping the final four game of its series with Bethesda University of California (3-22), the ACU baseball program (23-11) swept its final two sets of doubleheaders against the Flames on Friday and Saturday.  ACU swept Friday's doubleheader by scores of 8-7 and 18-5 and won Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 8-6 and 10-6.

 

Series/Game Notes:

 

ACU leads all-time series, 21-6 and now holds a five-game winning streak over Bethesda.

 

Recap:

 
  • ACU went 3-1 in its last four games against the Flames and outscored Bethesda 44-24 during that stretch

  • ACU won game one of Friday's doubleheader on a walk-off error

  • Starting pitcher Brett Aker moved to 6-0 on the year with a win on Saturday and is tied for the NAIA lead in wins 

  • Brent Smith had eight hits 

  • Ramon Miranda hit a pair of home runs in Friday's doubleheaders giving him eight on the season

  • Justin Ramirez stayed hot with five hits, three RBI, and eight runs scored

  • Randen Garrison hit his first home run of the season

  • Justen Burkey added seven hits with four RBI

  • Anthony Defrancesco and Brett Wagner earned wins in relief appearances 

  • Tanner Durazo earned a win in first start of the season.
