Box Score Glendale, AZ - The Arizona Christian University women's soccer program (1-3-0) won it's first game of the season as they thumped Park-Gilbert 6-0 on Thursday night at home on the ACU Football Field.
Thoughts From Coach:
After the match, Head Coach Courtney Nash had this to say. "It feels good to get the goose egg off our back and get a W today. Now we need to look forward to our rematch against Benedictine. We've grown a lot in two weeks as a team, hopefully that will show on Saturday."
The Game:
The Firestorm were in control from the beginning as they got on the board first with Irene Ledezma notching her first goal of the year off a nice pass from Adriana Contreras on the counterattack at 18:53 to make it 1-0. A few minutes later Hannah Dela Vega recorded her first goal of the season as Sarahi Mendoza set her up with a great through ball to make it 2-0 at 24:26. The Firestorm continued to push forward and found their third of the game off an Annalise Esparza corner kick that a Buccaneer turned into the net at 42:50 to make it 3-0. Then right before halftime Jaedin Muir got her first to make it 4-0 at halftime. The Firestorm would add two more goals in the second half through Ledezma again at 48:45 and Mendoza at 79:26 as they won convincingly 6-0.
