Inside the Box Score
From the opening tip off ACU played some of their best basketball of the season. The Firestorm bested the Redhawks in rebounds, blocks, assists, and finally points. Women's basketball dominated the floor on both ends of the court, going into halftime with a cozy 20 point lead. The second half was more of the same with everybody getting in on the action. As the clock winded down in the final seconds of the game, it was only Amari Burnette who hadn't scored, but the Firestorm defense kicked it into overdrive to secure a steal and find Burnette under the basket who made the shot as time expired. Kayla Hourigan recorded a double-double in just 14 minutes played. Every single player scored a bucket as the Firestorm bounced back into the win column.
Thoughts from Coach Rogers
"A very much needed victory for us tonight - for many reasons. Our ladies have been working extremely hard but haven't had much to show for it so it's definitely a relief for me and the team to see positive results. We have a young team that has faced plenty of adversity already this season and they displayed their resiliency tonight!"
Next for the Firestorm
Women's basketball will take this win into the Thanksgiving break and prepare for their next game this Saturday, as they host the Westcliff Warriors. That game will be played in the ACU Events Center with tip off scheduled for 6 PM.
