Glendale, AZ – The No. 23 ranked Arizona Christian University baseball team (18-10, 7-5) dropped a doubleheader against No. 7 Westmont College (24-2, 13-1) as they lost the first game 10-1 and fell 3-1 in the second game on Friday afternoon at Glendale Community College.

Series Notes:

With the losses the Firestorm record against Westmont falls to 11-26.

Game 1:

Jordan Vickers (1-1) took the loss pitching four innings while allowing four earned runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking one. Marques Titialli led the Firestorm's offense going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The Warriors struck first as they opened the third inning with a home run and added another on a triple as they took a 2-0 lead. They would then add two more in the fourth and sixth innings as they took a 6-0 advantage. The Firestorm didn't give up the fight as they got two runners on with one out in the bottom of the inning but they were only able to get one back on a sac fly by Titialli to make it 6-1. The Warriors would then tack on four more as they came away with a 10-1 victory in game one.

Game 2:

Sergio Heguertty (3-3) took the loss pitching all seven innings while allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out four and walking three. Robby Campillo led the Firestorm's offense going 1-for-2 with one RBI.

The Warriors once again took the lead on a home run this time in the second inning as they took an early 1-0 lead. They would add two more runs in the next two innings as they extended their lead to 3-0 at the end of the fourth. The Firestorm fought back in the bottom of the sixth inning as they put two runners on with nobody out. After a double play the Firestorm got on the board as Campillo ripped a single into left field to cut the deficit to 3-1. That would be all the Firestorm would get though as they fell 3-1 in a tight pitcher's duel in game two.

Thoughts from Coach:

After the game Head Coach Joe McDonald stated, "Although the scoreboard would never provide a stat of attitude, I thought our overall attitude and approach to the day was the best it's been all year long and we're going to be ready for tomorrow."
