Inside the Box Score (General recap of the game)

Good starts to new seasons are a critical part of a winning season, and Coach McDonald's Firestorm baseball club has done exactly that after starting the season 2-0 after another decisive victory today. Friday, January 27th ACU faced off against the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes and got another great offensive showing as the Firestorm got their second victory, winning 13-7. For this impressive lineup, the top of the order in Justin Ramirez and Daniel Durazo, set the tone for the team with the two together going an impressive 5-10, with a homerun from Durazo, his second of the year. But one name in the ACU lineup can most certainly not be forgotten about, being the first baseman freshman Tanner Vielguth. Vielguth tied an ACU baseball record with his five hits. On the pitching side, the Firestorm got a solid start from Jordan Vickers as he pitched 5 innings giving up just one earned run. The bullpen finished out the last four innings as the Firestorm players went home starting off their season 2-0.

Thoughts from Coach McDonald:

"It was another nice outing by our starting pitcher today.  We need to keep cleaning up some of the little things and little mistakes but once again our hitters and offense showed a lot of grit and grind with competitive at bats all game long."
