Power Surge In Riverside

Riverside, Calif.- The Arizona Christian Softball bats popped off three home runs in their doubleheader sweep of La Sierra on Friday.  Claire Buckley, Taylor Schleisman, and Neeley Bell all homered.  The Firestorm also produced eight doubles as a team against the Golden Eagles.

  • Schleisman homered to cash in Covalt for a 2-0 lead
  • Buckley opened a five run third inning with a home run
  • With one out, Taylor Alto singled, Bell singled, Covalt doubled, Schleisman doubled, and Anderson singled to account for four runs
  • In the fifth, Buckley stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and cleared them with a double
  • Despite LSU scoring a run, the mercy rule kicked in after the third out in the bottom of the fifth

  • Bell launched a home run to start the third
  • Covalt knocked in Alto before Terzakos delivered a pinch hit double to plate Covalt and Schleisman in the fifth
  • Three outs in the fifth away from another mercy rule La Sierra scored six runs
  • But after re-entry, Lawson and the Firestorm did not allow another base runner in the final two innings
