Inside the Box Score

Looking to make an adjustment from the seven walks given up yesterday, the Firestorm pitching staff came in with an approach to pitch to contact.  Though the ACU pitchers only gave up a couple hard-hit balls, the Warriors continued to hit bleeders into the outfield and find holes in the ACU defense.  The Firestorm did manage to string together fourteen hits throughout the day, but couldn't capitalize on bringing those runners home to score.  While Jessup's weak contact seemed to always find the outfield grass, the Firestorm were rocketing baseballs right at the Warrior's defense.  The bullpen improved on their goal to limit the walks handed out to opposing hitters, only giving up fou the entire day.  Porchas crushed a grand slam over the right field wall for his 7th homer of the season, but the damage had already been done, dropping ACU to 5-4 in conference play.

Next for the Firestorm

ACU will head south for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, facing off against the University of Jamestown in the Tucson Invitational.  That game will be played at 5 PM.
