Barnett Leads ACU To Win Over LPU

Azusa, Calif.- Hitting the pitch for an early Saturday morning match saw Arizona Christian come out shooting and scoring.  Jada Barnett served up assists off a pair of corners as three different Firestorm found the net in the 3-1 ACU win.

  • Justyne Underwood immediately set the tone as she took a shot just nine seconds into the contest
  • Eight combined shots by the teams in the first 15 minutes were off the mark or saved
  • In the 19th minute, the Warriors cashed in the first goal
  • With two minutes left in the first half, Barnett sent a corner kick into the box that found Mercado who scored her first goal of the season
  • Eight minutes of actual game time later, Barnett delivered another corner that Glover finished in the right side of the goal
  • For Glover, it was her first goal in a Firestorm uniform
  • The next 30 plus minutes featured many more shots and lots of plastic shown without a score change
  • Finally in the 89th minute, ACU iced the game when Cruz served a cross left to right setting up  Peroff to score her second goal of the season
  • In the end, ACU held a 25-8 shooting edge including 14-1 in the second half

The Firestorm will have a split week as they will be on the road at OUAZ on Thursday and home to host Benedictine Mesa on Saturday.
