Santa Barbara, Calif.- In the first meeting between former GSAC foes, Arizona Christian was turned away by NCAA Division II Westmont on Saturday.  While the Firestorm lost, Hugo Abril won both of his matches.

• But the Firestorm answered back to take the other two doubles matches to get the doubles point
• Adrian Smith and Josiah Tanguma won 6-4 in doubles three
• Hugo and Jonas Wand earned a 7-5 win at doubles one
• Westmont took the team lead by winning in straight sets in singles three, five and six
• Hugo won 6-4 and 6-1 playing one in the singles lineup 
• Wand forced the issue at number two but fell in two sets giving WC the team win
• Smith and WC foe Goor Adiv split the first two sets with 6-3 scores before Adiv closed the match with a super tie break win

Thoughts from Coach Carlisle
"Tough one today.  Westmont has a great team this year and their experience definitely helped them in the big moments.  We are very young and still figuring some things out so we are not at our best yet, but once we do I know we will be tough to beat.  I was really proud of our energy in doubles, especially from Adrian and Josiah at three. We will take a lot of positives from today and get back to work next week."
