Top Seeded Firestorm To Start In GSAC Semis

Fullerton. Calif.- After receiving a bye in the first round, the top seeded Firestorm will begin their GSAC tournament action in the semifinals on Friday.  Arizona Christian will face the fourth seeded Jessup Warriors in Fullerton.

The Firestorm, newly voted NAIA number 18, are 21-7 and won their fourth straight GSAC Regular Season championship last Saturday.  Arizona Christian is making appearance number 11 in the GSAC tournament.  They own a 6-8 record which includes winning the tournament in 2019-20.  Trent Hudgens and Dennis Flowers III were voted All-GSAC earlier in the week.  Mikah Blackwell posted his second straight GSAC Defensive Player of the Year honor.

Series Notes
The Firestorm are 16-7 all-time against the Warriors.  They had won 13 straight meetings until Jessup won both previous matchups this season.  The teams are facing each other for the first time in the postseason since they met in the NAIA quarterfinals in 2021-22.  Their only meeting in the GSAC tournament came in the 2019-20 season- a 92-81 ACU win.

The Warriors are now 18-10 on the season after beating OUAZ 92-79 on Thursday in the GSAC Opening Round.  Jessup is led by All-GSAC performers Myles Corey and Ty Artis.
