Seniors Honored, Firestorm Split Season Finale

Glendale, Ariz.- After honoring their five seniors- Claire Buckley, Miranda Hipolito, Ryann Reese, Ariel Rico, and Savannah Smith- Arizona Christian played their last doubleheader of the season on Saturday.  The Firestorm won game one against Benedictine-Mesa but dropped game two in ten innings.

  • Terzakos doubled home Brenna Henry and Miles to open the scoring in the second
  • Elena Garcia singled ahead of a triple by Buckley followed by a Rico single to score Buckley for a 4-0 edge
  • Rico scored Buckley again with a double
  • Melendez concluded the Firestorm scoring with a double to score Rico and pinch runner Brooklyn Thurgood
  • The Redhawks scored two in the sixth and one in the seventh before Smith shut the door for win number 15 on the year

  • Benu broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fourth
  • Four straight singles in the fifth resulted in a run for ACU but two runners thrown out on the same play ended the threat
  • The teams were scoreless in the sixth through ninth innings
  • The Redhawks broke the tie with a run in tenth
  • Unfortunately, the tying and winning runs were left at second and third in the bottom of the tenth
