ACU Battles to Road Draw at La Sierra

Riverside, Calif. –   Arizona Christian put together one of their strongest defensive efforts of the season on Thursday evening, earning a hard-fought 0-0 draw on the road against La Sierra.

  • The Firestorm controlled much of the match offensively, outshooting the Golden Eagles 14-9, including a 9-7 edge in shots on goal
  • ACU also held the advantage in corner kicks (5-2), continually pressuring the La Sierra back line throughout the night.
  • Cadence Peroff led the Firestorm with three shots on target, while Ella Barron added two more dangerous looks. 
  • Krista Hardesty, Peyton Baca, and Tahnee Scheuchl also tested the La Sierra keeper, forcing her to make nine saves to keep ACU off the scoreboard.
  • On the other end, senior goalkeeper Brenna Sonsini anchored the defense with seven saves, turning away multiple chances from close range to preserve her second clean sheet of the season. 
  • Behind Sonsini, ACU's back line held firm, limiting La Sierra to only a handful of threatening opportunities.
  • ACU tied the game, 0-0.
