Colorado Mesa Escapes ACU In Close Battle

Phoenix, Ariz.-  Colorado Mesa narrowly defeated the Firestorm 4-3 in a competitive match. The Mavericks overcame an early deficit by winning four of six singles matches to secure the team victory.

  • ACU took the early lead, winning two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Hugo Abril and Lennert Lemahieu dominated with a commanding 6-1 win, while Peter Wemmenhove and Tobias Frantz sealed the point with a 6-4 victory.

"Another heartbreaker today, but similar to yesterday we did a lot of great things and honestly played very well. We're struggling in the tight moments right now and that's definitely something we need to figure out, but we're still a very young team and we'll learn a lot from the matches we played this weekend that will make us much better down the road. The pieces are there, we just have to put it all together."
