Butcher Leads To Split

Glendale, Ariz.- After falling in game one to Bushnell, Freshman Hannah Butcher led the Firestorm to a win in game two on Saturday.

Inside Game One
  • In the first, ACU missed an opportunity when Miles was caught stealing just before Giddings doubled
  • From the bottom of the second to top of the fourth, neither team produced a base runner
  • McCracken single and Bradford doubled to put runners at second and third in the fourth but a groundout ended the inning
  • The lone run of the game came in the fifth when the Beacons strung together a double, sac bunt, and single
  • Christina Grubb singled moved over on sac and stole third in the fifth but was stranded
  • Dayna Herrera pitched well enough for the win by striking out five without a walk but took the loss

  • In the second, Butcher escaped a bases loaded situation
  • Bushnell threatened again in the fourth but Butcher closed the door on a second and third one out chance
  • Giddings walked (Taylor Fogleman pinch ran) and Lauko reached on an error followed by two outs
  • Henry delivered an RBI single followed by a pinch hit RBI single from Butcher
  • Kaitlin Terzakos walked to load the bases and Miles walked in a run
  • Martin scored on a wild pitch
  • Bradford singled to right to drive in two and plate the final two Firestorm runs 
  • The Beacons doubled and singled to get on the board in the sixth
  • Butcher struck out eight- her new collegiate best

Up Next
The Firestorm will leave the valley of the sun for the first time this season when they travel to Oklahoma to participate in the NAIA Softball Invitational.  They will play two games on Friday and two on Saturday.
