ACU Struggle Against #6 Azusa Pacific

Glendale, Ariz.-  The Firestorm struggled against a dominant #6 Azusa Pacific team and lost 7-0 in a competitive match.

  • The No. 2 pair of David James Brownlee and Brody Bohren set the tone with a 6-3 win over Petar Wemmenhove and Fenosoa Rasendra

  • In another tight three-set match, Max Schmidhauser edged Smith 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 at No. 5.
  • The No. 6 match was a dramatic battle, with Albertus du Plessis outlasting Frantz 7-6(9), 6-1.
  • ACU lost the match, 0-7. 

Thoughts from Coach Carlisle
"We knew today would be tough. APU is probably the best team we'll see all year, but we competed really well and gave them a lot of tough matches. I'm extremely proud of the guys for the way they played today and excited to see us take on Hope tomorrow."
