ACU Stats Inside The Game
  • In the first quarter, UCSD went on the board first scoring 4 unanswered goals off of a few Firestorm errors. ACU got some great shot opportunities, but the story of the game would be the UCSD goalie Kian Gulbrandsen who kept the Firestorm from getting any momentum. UCSD led 4-1.
  • In the second quarter, UCSD continued their heavy pressure on the ACU clearing game, forcing ACU turnovers that led to a few more UCSD goals in transition. ACU was able to put two goals in but found themselves trailing 9-3 at half.
  • In the third quarter, ACU made an adjustment on defense and stifled the UCSD offense the rest of the game. UCSD scored 2 while the Firestorm went scoreless throughout the second half.
  • In the fourth quarter, ACU defense continued to thrive holding UCSD to only one goal. The offense got more scoring opportunities but once again the UCSD goalie played excellent.
  • ACU lost the game, 3-12.

Thoughts From Coach Landon
"There's no doubt in anybody's minds that our guys came ready to play and sold out for this game. Sometimes you come against an opponent that is just as prepared and executes their game plan, UCSD played lights out. Our active 16 man roster was going against a program with a 40 - man deep bench that has been to the SLC finals four years straight. That's not to make excuses but to recognize that while our guys made incredible strides for this program this year, we still have more to grow! We received praise from various outlets on the class our guys played with and the resilience they showed. Now that's a WIN for us!"
