Glendale, Ariz.- For the second time in as many seasons,
Hugo Abril was named a Third Team NAIA All-American as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) revealed the 2025 NAIA Men's Tennis All-America teams on Thursday.
Abril, out of Barcelona, Spain, topped Arizona Christian with a 9-2 singles record (an 82% winning percent) with all appearances coming as number one in the lineup. With all but one match coming at number one, Abril delivered a 7-6 record in doubles action.
Head Coach
Phil Carlisle stated, "Back-to-back years for Hugo being named an All-American and there's definitely no one more deserving. He finished the year 9-2 and had several matches that he was leading in that he didn't get to finish. Â He has proven over the last couple of years to be one of the undisputed best players in the country and I still think the best is yet to come for him. Â He's an incredible player and an incredible teammate and well on his way to becoming the most decorated player in ACU history. Â We are so proud of Hugo for all that he's achieved and we're excited that he still has one more year with us."
To go along with his two Third Team All-American honors, Abril claimed NAIA Honorable Mention honors as a freshman.
Way to go, Hugo!
