Shelton Era To Begin In Oregon

Glendale, Ariz.- With their appearance in the Raider Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Arizona Christian Women's Volleyball will officially serve up the start of their season and the Tiger Shelton era as their head coach. The Firestorm will face a tough test with three of their four opponents at least receiving votes and topped by NAIA ranked number six Southern Oregon.

After serving as an assistant coach for the Firestorm in 2024 and head coach at Jessup University from 2019-23, Shelton looks to push the Firestorm higher up the GSAC and NAIA standings.

ACU concluded the 2024 season with a record of 15-17. Only six returners will result in a new look Firestorm under the guidance of Shelton. Haley Tedrow (168), Madison Van Wie (135), Ryan Coughlin (114), and Emmi Jacobus (86) return as the top returning producers in kills. Becca Thomson gave out 331 assists in 2024. Reagen Schouten delivered 20 service aces one season ago. Thirteen newcomers will look to provide a new spark to the ACU squad.

Series
Arizona Christian and Oregon Tech meet for the first time ever.

Facing Bushnell, the Firestorm are 1-1 with their last meeting coming in 2009 (a 3-1 ACU win).

Against Simpson, ACU holds a 6-4 all-time edge following a 3-1 win last year on a neutral court.

The Firestorm have not previously squared off with the host Raiders- an NAIA national semifinal team in 2024.
