Firestorm Battle Tough in Narrow Defeat to Rocky Mountain

Glendale, Ariz. – ACU went toe-to-toe with an unbeaten Rocky Mountain team, ultimately falling 1-0 in a defensive battle.

The Firestorm generated steady pressure throughout the game, firing off 10 shots, including six in the second half as they pushed for the equalizer. Midfield play from ACU helped tilt momentum after halftime, forcing Rocky Mountain's defense to clear several dangerous looks in the final 20 minutes.


Goalkeeper Brenna Sonsini anchored the defense with four saves, keeping the Firestorm within striking distance after Rocky Mountain broke through in the 58th minute on a goal by Emma Lensing.

"Tonight was another opportunity for us to learn and develop. We struggled in the first half but made some adjustments and played well in the second half. We will take what we learned and what we did well and build on them for our game on Monday."

On Monday, the Firestorm will have their second home game of the season and will host Carroll College at 9am on the ACU Football Field.
