Glendale, Ariz. - The ACU Sandy Birds, ranked number five in the NAIA, dropped their first match of day two of the Sandy Sweetheart Invitational to NAIA number one OUAZ before flipping the score script and beating Simpson. In both of their matches, the winner posted a 4-1 win.
The morning started with the Spirit winning at the fours before Jaiden Zeis and Jasmin Joseph claimed the win at the twos to knot the match at 1-1.
Unfortunately, OUAZ won all three matches of the second wave.
Challenging Simpson in the afternoon, the Firestorm won the first four completed matches. Most impressive was the fours pair of Alyssa Robles and Haley Tedrow holding their SU foes to just five points in their opening set.
