Sweep Of Red Hawks Highlighted By Game One Walk-off

Glendale, Ariz.- Down a run with an out to work with, Brittany McCracken doubled home two to give Arizona Christian the walk-off game one win over Simpson on Saturday afternoon.  Game two saw the Firestorm score the middle six runs to win the day cap.

Inside Game One
  • In the third, Madonia was hit by a pitch and Herrera doubled behind her letting Madonia race around from first
  • SU scored in the fourth before ACU countered with a Bradford sac fly to score Rachel Martin
  • The Redhawks plated four runs with five hits all with two outs for a 5-2 edge
  • McCracken scored Grubb on a sac fly and Madonia singled to plate Sierra Lauko for a 5-4 score headed to the seventh
  • Bradford doubled to right and Grubb walked in the seventh
  • McCracken smoked a double just over a leaping attempt at shortstop to score Bradford and Grubb all the way from first for the win
  • Alyssa Grinstead struck out four in 5.2 IP before Herrera earned the win in relief

"Proud of our team for bouncing back and getting a coupe of solid wins today. Dayna has been great at the plate and solid in the circle. This weekend has given us a lot to work on and it was important to end it on a positive note."

Up Next
Following four doubleheaders at home, Arizona Christian will go on the road for the first time next week to participate in the Simpson Round Robin in Redding, CA.  For the Firestorm, they will face the same Simpson squad on Thursday at 11:00 am.
