ACU Drops Two in Weekend Home Stand

Glendale, Ariz.- Arizona Christian men's tennis dropped a pair of matches over the weekend, falling 4-1 to Lipscomb University on Friday before losing 4-0 against Colorado Mesa University on Saturday at Paseo Racquet Center.

Match One against Lipscomb
  • The Firestorm faced an early deficit against Lipscomb after the Bisons secured the doubles point. Wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles gave the visitors a quick 1-0 lead, despite a strong showing from ACU's No. 3 pair of Adrian Smith and Tobias Frantz, who were ahead 5-2 when play was halted.
  • In singles, ACU found its lone breakthrough at No. 3, where Petar Wemmenhove delivered a convincing 6-3, 6-4 victory. Hugo Abril also battled at the top spot, pushing Facundo Perlov in a competitive 6-3, 4-3 match that went unfinished.
  • Lipscomb clinched the team victory with straight-set wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, while edging out ACU at No. 2 to seal the 4-1 win.

Match Two against Colorado Mesa
  • Colorado Mesa took control early by capturing the doubles point. ACU's Fenosoa Rasendra and Matsvei Kobryk earned a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles, but the Mavericks secured victories at No. 1 and No. 3 to claim the opening point.
  • In singles play, the Mavericks maintained momentum. The match at No. 1 ended in a win by opponent retirement for Colorado Mesa, and straight-set victories at No. 3 and No. 4 sealed the team result.
  • Several matches went unfinished, including strong starts from Rasendra at No. 2 and Judah Vlad at No. 5, but Colorado Mesa had already clinched the contest.
