Inside The Game

Game One
  • The Firestorm struck first with single runs in the first and second innings, getting an RBI single from Joey Genduso and a sacrifice fly from Ty Gillespie. Embry-Riddle responded with a run in the third before taking a 3-2 lead in the fourth on an RBI double and a run-scoring groundout.
  • ACU answered immediately — and decisively.
  • A pair of wild pitches allowed two runs to score and swing the momentum back to the Firestorm before Andrew Ivy delivered the biggest hit of the frame, lining a two-run single to right to cap the four-run outburst and give ACU a 6-3 advantage.
  • Embry-Riddle closed the gap in the sixth with a two-run home run, but Arizona Christian's bullpen slammed the door. Jack Brooker earned the win with four innings of work, and David Gordon II collected his fifth save of the year with a scoreless seventh.
  • ACU won the game, 6-5.
Game Two
  • Casey Farrell set the tone early, striking out seven across four innings while allowing just one run on two hits. Christian Lucero and Tyler Bailey combined for three strong innings of relief, limiting the Eagles to just three hits for the game.
  • Offensively, Marcellus Cueva fueled the Firestorm attack. He drove in the game's first run with an RBI double in the second, then broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth with a two-run single to right-center to give ACU the lead for good.
  • Luke Zuromski added insurance with a solo home run in the fifth, and another run crossed in the sixth on a wild pitch as Arizona Christian pulled away for a 5-1 win.
  • ACU collected eight hits in the second game, including doubles from Joey Genduso, Noah Manasan, Jacob Solis and Cueva.
  • Embry-Riddle threatened with four walks in the opener but managed just three hits in the finale as the Firestorm staff combined for nine strikeouts and kept traffic off the bases late.
  • ACU won the game, 5-1.
