ACU Come Up Short Against the Sun Devils

Glendale, Ariz.– Arizona Christian hosted Arizona State University in their second home game, but ultimately, came up short, 16-7.

Inside The Game
  • The first quarter started with a Gavin Waddell goal as the Firestorm came out confident and scoring efficiently; they would proceed to score two more goals in the quarter. 
  • The defense also performed well, holding a top-10 MCLA D1 team to only three goals as well. 
  • The score was tied 3-3 at the end of the first quarter. 
  • The second quarter, similar to the first, was back and forth, with each team scoring one after the other. 
  • The Firestorm offense had a total of three goals, including guys like Carson Brown and Gavin Waddell, who both had two goals in the first half. 
  • On defense, the firestorm allowed four goals, which would put them down, but Brody Tkachyk was relentless in guarding their best midfielders all night. 
  • The Sun Devils led 7-6 at halftime. 
  • The third quarter, along with much of the second half, was not very impressive from the Firestorm. 
  • The offense struggled to maintain possession and did not score a single goal. 
  • The defense struggled as well, as the Firestorm let up five goals. 
  • At the end of the third quarter, ASU led 12-6.
  • The final quarter of play would start out hot as Kale Parthen won the opening face-off and went all the way down to score the Firestorm's first goal of the second half. 
  • The defense played a little better, led by freshman goalie Gavin Hale, who saw 49 shots on the night, allowing 16 in and saving 14. 
  • ASU won 16-7.

Next Up
The Firestorm will travel to Aurora, Colorado to compete in the Rocky Mountain Rumble tournament and will play on Friday against the University of Montana at 2:00 pm.
