Mesa, Ariz.- Arizona Christian battled No. 10 Benedictine Mesa in a tightly contested GSAC beach volleyball matchup on Friday but fell 4–1 at Gene Autry Park.
Three courts required a decisive third set and four total sets were decided by extra points as the Firestorm pushed the nationally ranked Redhawks throughout the lineup.
The Firestorm earned their point at No. 3, where
Alyssa Robles and
Abigail Nelson rallied for a 24–26, 21–19, 15–9 victory.
Jaiden Zeis and
Jasmin Joseph forced a third set at No. 2 before falling 15–13 in the final frame.
Abby Siebert and
Haley Tedrow also pushed their match to a third set at No. 4, with Benedictine Mesa winning the decider 18–16.
Emily Casner and
Emee Fellens dropped a close match at No. 1, 21–18, 22–20.
Arizona Christian moves to 6–6 overall and 3–4 in GSAC play.
