Biography

2015-16 (Senior Year): Brandon enters his third season as a member of the Firestorm.

2014-15 (Junior Year): Brandon started all 34 games of his junior season averaging 14 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 49.7% from the field, 46.5% from 3, and 75.5% from free throw. He ranked 1st in the GSAC in 3-point percentage, 3rd in free throw percentage, 5th in 3-pointers made (79), 6th in scoring, and 16th in steals (32). He also has two games on the GSAC’s top ten stellar point games list in 2014-15 as he scored 35 points against North British Columbia (December 30, 2014) and 32 points against Saint Xavier (October 31, 2014). Brandon was named to the All-GSAC Team and was also an Honorable Mention NAIA All-American selection. He also helped the program to their third consecutive NAIA National Championship Tournament and the first ever tournament win in program history as the Firestorm advanced to the Sweet 16.

2013-14 (Sophomore Year): Brandon played and started in 28 of the team’s 32 games. He averaged 11 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 45.3% from the field, 40% from 3, and 77% from the charity stripe. He ranked 3rd in the GSAC in 3-point percentage, 5th in assists, 7th in defensive rebounds, 10th in 3-pointers made (42), 11th in steals, 17th in scoring, and 20th in rebounds. He also posted a double-double against the Master’s College on January 18, 2014 when he scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Brandon was a NCCAA Second Team All-Region selection.

Prior to ACU: Brandon played one season at Imperial Valley College where he was an All-Conference player. He also spent eight years as a member of the United States Navy.

High School: A 2002 graduate, Brandon played at Carroll High School in Atlanta, Georgia where he was an All-State Football player.

Personal: Born May 8, 1984, Brandon hails from Atlanta, Georgia. He has four sisters Chris Newman, Kricket Newman, April Peoples, and Tamekia Newman. Brandon is the youngest and only boy. He also has two daughters Kymie (11) and Ailina (7). Brandon is majoring in Education.
