Brad Hering

For Brad Hering 2024-25 will be his fifth year as the head coach of the Arizona Christian Men’s and Women’s Swimming programs.

During his first four years leading the Firestorm, ACU has earned twelve combined NAIA All-American honors.  Both teams have been represented at the NAIA National Championships all four years highlighted by the women’s side finishing eleventh to cap the 2021-22 season.

Ministry and swim have intertwined for Coach Hering throughout his almost 30 year career.  Most recently he has served as an evangelist for the Antioch Network while also working as a swim coach at Stanwood High School and the Stanwood YMCA.  He was named the 2019 Pacific Northwest Masters Coach of the Year.  The mission field for the Herings has included service in the USA, Mexico, and Brazil.  Hering spent a combined 14 years as the lead pastor of two churches including 2010-18 at the River of Life Church.

On the pool deck, Hering help start the Grand Canyon University swim programs back in 2007-08.  From 1990-93, Hering coached at Northern Arizona University.  Before and sandwiched between his NCAA DI coaching stops, Hering coached with the Brazilian and Mexican National Swim Teams.  Starting the Arizona Thunder Aquatic Club resulted in Hering training a member of Team USA for the Swimming World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

As a swimmer at Arizona State University, Hering was a four time All-American.  After ASU, Hering qualified for six United States national swim teams.

In 1985, Hering earned a degree in exercise physiology from Arizona State University.

Coach Hering and his wife, Traci, have four children- Zeb, Olivia, Boaz (ACU Swimmer), and Hannah.
