Coach Thomas is in his second year as the running backs coach. He added the role of Special Teams Coordinator for the 2023 season.

The 2023 season marks 20 years of coaching at various levels for Coach Thomas.  Prior to ACU, he was on staff at Arizona State University as a special teams analyst.  In the state of Arizona, he served as the Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator at North Point Prep, Receivers Coach at St. Mary’s High School and Westwind Prep.  While in Kentucky, he was the offensive coordinator for the top scoring offense in the city at Tates Creek High School before being hired as the running backs coach at Kentucky State University.

Coach Thomas lists his greatest coaching honor as coaching his son to three Pop Warner State Championships and a Regional and National Championship.

At Northern Arizona University, he earned NCAA Division I All-American honors as a member of the 4x400 relay team.  As a prep athlete, he competed as a running back at Tolleson High School.

Academically, he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Northern Arizona University in 1994.  In 2002, he added a master’s in Public Administration from Kentucky State University.
