Trent Bruns

The 2024 season will be the third year for Trent Bruns as the head coach of the Arizona Christian Men’s Volleyball team.

Breakthrough is the best way to describe the 2023 season as the Firestorm finished with a winning record and earned a NAIA Top 15 ranking for the first time in program history.  The first NAIA All-American for ACU Men’s Volleyball was selected as well. ACU set almost every program record including kills (892), attack percentage (.281), assists (853), total blocks (167), digs (591), and matches played (21)

In his first season, the Bruns led Firestorm set numerous program records that were broken a year later.

Coach Bruns served the 2021 season as a volunteer assistant with the men.

Bruns took over the men’s volleyball team after serving as the Club Men’s Volleyball Coach at Grand Canyon University for a few years.  Prior to working with the club team, Bruns served as an assistant coach on the varsity GCU staff.

During his time at Grand Canyon, Bruns worked with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

As an athlete, Bruns played four seasons for the GCU Lopes.  The three time MIVA All-Conference libero holds the GCU digs record with 1,331 digs which includes a single season best 502 digs.  For his work academically and on the court, the two year captain was named the Roland L. Beck Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

As a prep athlete with the Balboa Bay Quik Club, Bruns won four medals at the Junior Olympics- one gold, two silvers and one bronze.

Academically, Bruns graduated from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor’s degree in communication in 2014 and master’s degree in leadership in 2016.

Coach Bruns and his wife, Claire, have two dogs name Thomas and Charles.  Away from the volleyball court, Coach
Bruns enjoys skateboarding and surfing.  The Bruns attend Christ’s Church of the Valley.
