Box Score La Habra, CA- Facing a Hope International squad with only five players proved to be the spark needed to return Arizona Christian to the win column with their 7-2 win on Saturday. Junior Ezequiel Suarez and Sophomore Santiago Galeffi won both of their matches.
Up 2-0 with default wins at number three doubles and number six singles, the real action started in doubles play. Galeffi and Senior Michael Munguia played their way to an 8-2 win on court two. Senior Tyler Cawthorne and Suarez used an 8-6 win to sweep doubles action.
Needing just one win in singles play for the team win, Suarez took care of that detail with a double 6-0 win on court four.
Playing in a rare singles match, Sophomore Macen Vargas made the best of his solo opportunity as he won 6-1 and 6-4 over HIU's Michael Maiolo on court five.
The final three matches playing all went to a super tie break third set. HIU secured their two points with 10-7 and 10-8 super tie break scores on courts one and two.
On court three, Galeffi won his first set 6-3. But Anthony Sena grabbed the next set 6-4. In the super tie break, Galeffi and Sena rallied back and forth and needed two extra opportunities to decide their match. Galeffi finally closed the deal 12-10 to conclude the day.
