Warriors Take Down Firestorm in Fourth Quarter

Box Score

In a game that had the intensity of a playoff tilt, the Firestorm were unable to outflank the Warriors in the late minutes of the game. With neither team ever truly pulling away, the Warriors were able to execute strongly down the stretch and get out with a huge 67-63 win.

The first quarter saw the Firestorm (13-13, 7-8 GSAC) come racing out of the gates, shooting the lights out of the gym. Behind three-pointers from Courtney Christmas and Toni Davis, the Firestorm couldn't have asked for a better start to the game. With Sophomore Forward  Jada Willingham in foul trouble for most the game, it became important to what the rest of the team could do.

The second half is where the fireworks really got started, as both teams at least made an attempt to pull the game away. With neither team able to pull away, the score never grew to more than a five point lead or deficit. The Firestorm took a one point 49-48 lead with them into the fourth quarter, but with all the momentum on their size the Warriors played an almost perfect fourth quarter. Emillee Vandike led the charge for the Warriors in what was a battle that came down to the games final minutes. With the Warriors ultimately winning 67-63.

Makayla Enders led all scorers with 18 tonight, including a 3-7 mark from behind the three-point line

The Firestorm wrap up their regular season on Saturday against Menlo College. With the Firestorm already clinching the 5th place spot, Saturdays match will do nothing to affect the GSAC Standings.

#the GSAC Tournament Bracket has already been posted, and it appears that next Friday (March 3rd) the Firestorm will face off with #21 Masters. With this being their first ever time in the GSAC tournmanet
