Azusa, CA- On Friday, Arizona Christian ran into NCAA Division II #11 Azusa Pacific.  The Cougars controlled the Firestorm 9-0.

Doubles started off the action with the matches finishing up in numerical order.  Courts one and two quickly went to APU with scores of 8-3 and then 8-4.  On court three, Junior Marcelo Balderrama and Sophomore Scott Wheeler applied pressure but could not quite pull of the win as they fell 8-6.

The Cougars (13-3) cruised through the first sets of all six singles matches.  But the Firestorm (11-9) showed some fight in four of the second sets as at least three games were won by ACU in those sets.

Sophomore Enzo Douillac accounted for scores of 6-2 and 6-4 in second set before falling on court two.

On court three, Senior Ezequiel Suarez lost the first set 6-2.  In the second set, he actually held a lead of 4-2 before seeing the set slip away 7-5.

Court six saw Senior Seth Moore lose 6-4 and 6-3.

The last match on the day was court four.  Balderrama was on the short end of a 6-3 result in the opening set.  He was up 3-2 in the second set before losing 6-4.

The Firestorm will continue their NCAA DII So Cal former GSAC team tour when they take on Concordia (CA) on Saturday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.  First serve is set for 10:00 am.
